The dollar store camping haul is about finding both essential items, as well as “odds and ends” that make your camping trip go smoother. You can actually save a ton of money by being creative with the way you use some of these items. So here are 7 camping hacks you should know about!
Seven Dollar Store Camping Hacks
1. DIY Firestarter
Stuff used dryer lint inside a toilet paper tube roll. Instant and great smelling way to start your campfire for the evening!
2. DIY Plastic Bag Storage Dispenser
Eliminate plastic bags all over the place! Rinse out a fabric softener container (or a similar sized container) and throughougly dry. Stuff plastic shopping bags into it, and you have an instantly convenient storage dispenser!
3. Remove Sand/Dirt Using Baby Powder
Just rub some baby powder on dirty sandy feet, until they’re clean (and smelling much better)! The powder is supposed to absorb moisture from the sand or dirt, until it falls away on its own. In reality, you could just let you feet dry first, then rub off the sand without using the powder.
4. Chip Clip Toothbrush Holder
Stick a chip clip onto a toothbrush handle, so the brush end is propped up above the counter. Now, set it out of the way, so it dosen’t get knocked down on the floor, and you’re good to go!
5. Shower Cap Show Storage
Keep your tent or camping trailer clean from dirty shoes! When you enter the trailer, take off shoes and put them into a shower cap. Keeps your space clean for much longer! You can pick up a 6 pack of shower caps for about $1 form the dolalr store. Yay!
6. Cake Containr Paper Plate Storage
Keep your paper plates from blowing away during grilling! Buy a cheap dollar store plastic cake plate container, and store your plates inside until you’re ready to use them. Genius!!
7. Wrap Beverage Lid
Keep bugs out of your drinking cups by using a press n’seal wrap from the dollar store. Tear off a piece, and stretch it tightly over your platic or styrafoam cup’s lid. Use a straw to punch a hole through, and sip away, bug free! Woo-hoo!
We’re happy to pass these great camping hacks on to you, and hope you have fun with them, on your next camping trip! Enjoy the outdoors!
